When TARA, a tempestuous sixteen-year-old girl who is being sexually abused by a trusted uncle, falls in love with her female tutor, she sets off a minefield of events that destroys her upper middle-class family in India.
Forced to forsake her childhood home, as an adult Tara wrestles with the meaning of love and abuse, consent and power, between unequals. She undertakes a courageous journey to understand the past and bring about a measure of forgiveness and reparation.
Journey’s End is a story about the impact of power on ideas of love, consent and abuse between masters and servants, couples, and lovers against the backdrop of political upheaval in India.
